The transition to motherhood is the most significant change in a woman’s life and is celebrated in many cultures but, in the west, tremendous pressure can be put upon women to be trim and “back to normal” after giving birth. Increasingly parents wish to create as “natural” birth as possible and modern medicine is beginning to try to avoid interventions.
Yoga is being increasingly recognised as an ideal preparation for birth. Yoga enables a woman to remain fully present and conscious during pregnancy and birth. Yoga helps woman to better prepare physically, emotionally and spiritually for her new role as a mother.
